Cyber Security Portfolio and Experience

I’m Sabit, an aspiring cyber security professional with a background in networking, IT support, and smart technology systems. I’m building hands-on experience across networking, IoT systems, and core security fundamentals.

My focus is on understanding how systems operate, how they are secured, and how real-world risks are identified and managed through practical, structured learning.

Below is a timeline of my education, experience, and progression into cyber security.

MY FOCUS

Understanding How Systems Work & How They Are Secured

As an IT and cyber security professional with experience across retail operations, trade supply, and smart technology environments.

My interest in technology started early, where I became the go-to person for troubleshooting devices, setting up systems, and resolving technical issues. What began as curiosity has developed into a focused path centred on understanding not just how systems operate, but how they are secured.

Professionally, I built my foundation in high-volume environments, developing strong operational discipline, accountability, and customer-focused problem-solving skills. I now work hands-on with smart lock and smart home systems, including Bluetooth-based IoT devices, access control configurations, and system troubleshooting. This has given me practical exposure to IoT security, system integration, and the relationship between physical access control and cyber security in real-world environments.

Academically, I hold an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (Computer & Network Engineering), a Certificate III in Information Technology, and I am currently completing a Certificate IV in Cyber Security.

  • Virtual lab environments (VM deployment, testing, analysis)

  • Windows Server and introductory Active Directory configuration

Alongside this, I am developing knowledge in:

  • Risk assessment methodologies

  • Incident response principles

  • Security frameworks such as the Australian Essential Eight

This portfolio reflects my ongoing work across lab environments, research, and applied learning as I continue building technical depth.

Approach & Mindset

My approach to cyber security is structured, practical, and focused on continuous improvement. I prioritise building real capability through hands-on experience, repetition, and applied learning rather than surface-level understanding.

I see security as more than just a technical challenge — it involves behaviour, processes, and decision-making. Strong security comes from a combination of well-designed systems, informed users, and disciplined execution.

I focus on logical analysis and problem-solving, particularly where infrastructure, human factors, and organisational processes intersect. Maintaining integrity and accountability is essential, as security environments rely on trust and responsible decision-making.
